HOW TO TAKE TENUATE: Best taken in the morning on an empty stomach.Take this medicine about 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals. Take your last dose of the day at least 4 to 6 hours before bedtime. Break, crush or chew before swallowing. Store Tenuate in a tightly closed container at room temperature away from sunlight. Since tenuate can cause sleeplessness avoid taking after noon. Take as directed by your doctor and do not take longer than directed. Keep out of the reach of children and do not give your medication to anyone.

SIDE EFFECTS: Dry mouth, sleeplessness, irritability, stomach upset or constipation may occur the first few days as you body adjusts to the medication. If the problems persists , stop and consult your physician.

PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your complete medical history especially if you have high blood pressure, an overactive thyroid, glaucoma, diabetic or emotional problems. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Inform your physician about ALL the medicines you use, (prescription and nonprescription), especially if you take high blood pressure medicines or MAO inhibitors, (eg., Furazolidone, Phenelzine, Selegiline, Tranylcpromine) or any other weight loss medicine. Avoid "stimulant" drugs that may increase your heart rate such as decongestants or caffeine. Decongestants are commonly found in over the counter cough and cold medicines.

MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as possible. If it is after 4 pm, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
